A new survey by game developers shows a significant interest in the Vision Pro for games with expected growing usage of visionOS games soon. Here are the details.

The results of the game developer survey show plans for new visionOS games.

As published by GamesBeat, a recent survey of the Game Developers Conference examined the participation of developers in Apple's new spatial computing platform.

The data shows that significant growth is on the horizon. Here’s what it means:

Although only 8% of VR/AR developers currently develop games for the Apple Vision OS, the platform sees its presence grow. Nearly one-fifth (18%) of respondents say their next games will appear on the platform, and a quarter are interested in Apple's VR headset.

These three data points are all interesting in their own way.

Firstly, it is somewhat surprising that 8% of VR/AR game developers currently work on a visionOS project. We have not heard much about their efforts so far because visionOS gaming options were previously rare. However, this number is quite exciting.

Secondly, the fact that 18% of participants confirmed that their next game will be on the Vision Pro shows how much growth we should see in a short time.

The final question is particularly relevant, especially when comparing interest in visionOS with other platforms.

Interestingly, 26% of participants stated that visionOS was of great interest to them as game developers, while only 25% said the same about PlayStation VR2—possibly a platform that could contribute to strengthening Apple’s Vision Pro efforts.

The survey included over 3,000 game developers in total, a large group that provides a good insight into the plans of creative personalities in the gaming industry.
