Your iPhone 16 Pro has been sitting unused for about three months. I have used the device tag daily, and there are many things to love about it – but not everything is perfect. Here's how my newest flagship iPhone has developed with me over the past three months.
Context of iPhone Upgrade
Before you delve into all the good things about Apple's latest iPhone and its drawbacks, here are two important points to know:
- I buy a new iPhone every year, so my opinion is shaped by comparing the 16 Pro with the last year's model, the 15 Pro.
- If you were happy with your 2022 iPhone 15 Pro, it would have been nice to not see any changes at all.
Advantages and Improvements
Apple has made some changes to the iPhone 16 Pro that personally felt like steps backward. Or in some cases, new features that should have made a bigger difference didn't.
Here are my three main concerns and disappointments:
- No significant improvement in battery life: The iPhone 16 Pro has a slightly larger battery than the 15 Pro, but it doesn't seem to last any longer. I still need to charge it every day.
- The A18 Pro chip is slower than expected: Despite being a newer model, the A18 Pro chip isn't as fast as I hoped it would be, especially when running Apple's own apps and services. It feels like it could use some optimization.
- Less storage options: The iPhone 16 Pro comes with less storage options compared to its predecessor. While this may not be a big issue for most users, it does limit the amount of data you can store on your device.
iPhone 16 Pro Summary
Overall, I am still very satisfied with my iPhone 16 Pro. It has brought significant improvements that make it better than ever before.
That being said, it would have been nice to see some of these improvements without sacrificing the size and weight that made me happy with my previous iPhone 15 Pro.
