Netflix has announced that it will increase the prices for its subscription plans in the USA, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina. All plans will be adjusted, including those with ads and those without ads.

Based on the latest Earnings Report, the basic plan with ads will increase from $6.99 to $7.99 monthly. The standard ad-free plan will rise from $15.49 to $17.99, and the premium ad-free plan from $22.99 to $24.99. Netflix sends emails to subscribers to inform them when these changes will take effect.

With Amazon Prime for only €14.99, Disney for €15.99, and Hulu without ads for €18.99, Netflix stands out as the most expensive streaming plan. Currently, it feels justified due to popular series like You and Squid Game, anime, and popular films. Netflix feels like a premium service, but if you have T-Mobile, the company will reduce part of the Netflix costs.

Netflix has raised its prices again in 2024, which adds to an earlier increase in October. This is also the first time the company has increased prices for the ad-free subscription plan that started in 2022. The company explained that these price changes are due to higher costs for programming and a desire to provide better value for their subscribers.

Even with the recent price increases, Netflix experienced an unexpected increase in subscribers. In one quarter, the company gained 19 million new subscribers, which increased its total number worldwide to over 300 million. This is the largest progress in subscriber numbers that the company has ever experienced in a single quarter.

The company stated in its earnings call that with its current success, there is still significant potential for future growth. The company mentioned that Netflix operates less than 10% of total TV time in the countries where it operates, which is generally very high. If Netflix feels justified in finding a price increase, it's easier for the company to do so if it has such a large market share.
