A new generation of Apple TV 4K will be 'launched' at the end of 2025.
Last weekend, Mark Gurman released his first Power On Newsletter of the year.
In the newsletter, he outlines Apple's big plans for 2025. Among these plans is a new model of the Apple TV 4K.
However, Gurman also gives the new model a more specific time frame than before.
The next generation of the Apple TV 4K will be "released on schedule by the end of the year."
Apple usually conducts several major launches in the fall:
- September brings new models of the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods
- Then October focuses on the Mac, and sometimes also on the iPad as well as other products by accident.
In 2024, Apple decided to abandon the traditional event format for introducing its Mac products and instead announced its first M4 Macs over three separate days.
These new Macs were delivered to users at the end of November.
It seems, according to Gurman's report, that the new Apple TV 4K should appear in October or November.
October could be the announcement time, but it is always possible that it will actually arrive in November like new Macs do so often.
This would almost exactly three years after the last update of the Apple TV.
Required Functions for the New Apple TV 4K
At this point, it is still unknown which new functions Apple plans to include in its next generation of the Apple TV 4K.
We know that a new Apple-made Wi-Fi module should be included, which could lead to improvements in network connectivity with the expanding Home ecosystem from Apple.
In addition, it is expected that a certain level of functionality will be supported by Apple Intelligence.

To enable AI, the Apple TV 4K would need a more powerful chip like the A17 Pro or A18 and updated RAM.
