Der neue HDMI 2.2-Protokoll soll die Audiolaufzeit erheblich reduzieren.

The HDMI Forum, which manages the specifications for the HDMI connection, announced version 2.2 of the protocol on Monday. Known as HDMI 2.2, it increases bandwidth and aims to significantly reduce audio latency. Read on to find out exactly what has changed with the new HDMI 2.2 protocol.
Here are the news about HDMI 2.2
The advanced use of the HDMI Forum lies in developing specifications to meet the growing demand for performance and functional features within the HDMI ecosystem," said Chandlee Harrell, President of the HDMI Forum. "This new specification supports the constantly changing landscape for wonderful new technologies and products that will appear on the market now and in the future.
HDMI 2.2 is about to be released eight years after the announcement of HDMI 2.1, which enabled resolutions of 4K120 and 8K60.
The new version of the protocol increases bandwidth to 96Gbps, making it ideal for AR/VR devices that require a lot of data. According to the HDMI Forum, the higher bandwidth also enables various commercial applications such as Large-Scale Digital Signage, Medical Imaging, and Machine Vision.
Even if you don't have an AR/VR device, there is another aspect of HDMI 2.2 that affects many users. This lies in its inclusion of a new latency indication protocol (LIP) to improve audio and video synchronization, which should significantly reduce audio lag – especially when using an audio/video receiver or soundbar. HDMI 2.2 also enables support for higher resolutions and refresh rates.
Naturally, it will take some time before the first devices with HDMI 2.2 hit the market. This is because the new protocol has not yet been implemented and is expected to be available in the first half of 2025. However, since HDMI 2.1 already supports resolutions like 4K at 120Hz, most users will probably not rush to update.
