PeaZip 10.2 is now available as a new update for this free and cross-platform software program for file compression and encryption on GNU/Linux, macOS, and Windows.

Almost two months after the release of PeaZip 10.1, version 10.2 was added with GUI support for changing Brotli -q 11 and Zstd –ultra -22 compression levels, as well as support for manual deletion of input files and folders at the end of tasks on the Options tab in the progress dialog.

PeaZip 10.2 also improves archive problem detection when searched with the 7z/p7zip frontend, automatically checks matching archive types (e.g., RAR, ZIP, ZIPX) for comments upon opening, enhances keyboard shortcuts, updates the application icon so it looks the same on all platforms, and updates the Tux theme to work better in dark mode.

For Linux, this version adds Qt 6-compiled binary packages, adds alpha-quality GTK3 binary packages only for testing purposes, and enables Wayland support by default for the Flatpak version, which is compiled with the Qt 6 widgetset and includes an X11 fallback option in case of an incompatible Wayland system.

Inside PeaZip 10.2, the 7z background is updated to version 24.09, defining new default values for dictionary size for LZMA/LZMA2. Additionally, Pea 1.22 introduces a hybrid KDF to further increase the strength of the KDF phase of triple-encrypted encryption.

Among other updates, this version changes the progress window icon to match the selected compression format and modifies the entry "macOS Service Menus" in the package to a link that points to the folder with the same name within the installed peazip.app package.
