The AirPods Pro 3 are not yet available, nor the high-quality AirPods Max 2. However, this year was solid thanks to the AirPods 4 and strong software updates. However, one of my favorite new features of this year should have its biggest impact in the months to come when iOS 18.4 is released.

My New Favorite Feature in AirPods: Interactions with Siri

As every year since the first launch of the AirPods Pro 2, Apple has introduced several software updates for its wireless earbuds this year.

iOS 18 and 18.1 introduced the following features:

• Voice isolation: Improves calls in a noisy environment.
• Interactions with Siri: Nod or shake your head to respond to Siri.
• Ear health: Auditory evaluation, Hearing aid, Noise protection.
• Custom spatial audio: Apple has improved it, although the details are uncertain.

Doubtfully the most transformative update of this year is the triple of ear health features. But my personal favorite is interactions with Siri, which are supported by the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4.

I love how Apple has created such perfect sound cues to indicate that it is recording your head movements.

The feature is an excellent addition when I am walking around the city and want to minimize my vocal interactions with Siri.

It also works very well when interacting with ChatGPT via Siri.

But while I already enjoy interactions with Siri, they are ready to have their biggest impact in iOS 18.4.

iOS 18.4 promises a smarter Siri to encourage daily usage.

Apple plans to intensify the major improvements of Siri for this release of iOS 18.4 in spring.

Here's what happens:

• Take actions within apps and across them: The voice calculation will really become a reality when Siri can perform hundreds of new app actions.
• Personal context awareness: Siri will act as a true assistant by responding to requests based on personal information about him, such as your calendar details, messages you have received, podcasts you have listened to, and much more.
• Screencast awareness: Whether you are looking at the screen, Siri will be able to act on it.

The promise of iOS 18.4 is that this will make Siri the intelligent assistant we all hoped for and never had before.

If Apple can keep its promise, daily use of Siri will certainly increase, and the new Siri Interaction feature will become increasingly crucial.

We are getting closer to a future Her with a more competent digital assistant at hand 'Siri'.

As a result, AirPods and features like wordless Siri interactions will be among the best ways to leverage the new Siri intelligence.
