Here are the two main priorities of Apple for artificial intelligence this year, according to a leaked memo.

The launch of Apple's AI has been a few months ago, but much more additions are expected soon in iOS 18.4 and beyond. Today, a new leak of memo gives us indications on the two main internal priorities of Apple for its efforts in artificial intelligence this year.

Updating Siri and improving AI models are major priorities

Earlier today, Marc Gurman reported that Apple moved a key executive - Kim Vorrath - to its AI division and entrusted her with the responsibility of "correcting artificial intelligence and Siri."

This information comes from a memo revealed by the head of Apple's AI, John Giannandrea. Another excerpt from the memo has been shared, although it lists Apple's internal priorities for AI this year.

Gurman writes to Bloomberg:

This year, the group of artificial intelligence is focusing on revamping the underlying infrastructure of Siri and improving the company's internal AI models, as indicated by Giannandrea in the memo.

It seems that Apple's AI priorities for 2025 are:

1. Rewriting the core technology behind Siri,
2. Updating existing AI models

This is nothing revolutionary, but it says a lot about Apple's progressive approach to evolution and improvement.

The internal focus aligns with current weaknesses in Apple's AI capabilities

Gurman previously reported that Siri is undergoing a significant background transformation to become "Siri LLM," which is planned for release in the spring of 2026 — possibly in iOS 19.4.

This project seems exactly what Giannandrea says is the major challenge for Apple this year.

The second area of focus is also reasonable.

Improving the company's AI models is an obvious necessity when considering recent problems with notification summaries.

Although useful when everything works correctly, these summaries can regularly contain errors. As a result, Apple temporarily disables these features in iOS 18.3 for certain categories of applications. It seems they are disabled until the underlying AI model is improved.
