More than a year has passed since Apple suspended its advertising on X due to concerns about brand safety. Soon, however, Apple could potentially start advertising on X again.

According to the Wall Street Journal, which published a report on Amazon's decision to invest in X and discussions of Apple reconsidering the suspension.

Amazon is intensifying its advertising spending on Elon Musk's X, according to sources familiar with the matter, a major shift after pulling much of its advertising over a year ago, at a time when many brands were concerned about hate speech on the platform. […]

Apple, which pulled all of its ad dollars from X by the end of 2023, has had discussions in recent weeks regarding the possibility of testing ads on the platform, according to a person familiar with the situation.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

The report adds that companies that have already returned to advertising on X are doing so at much lower spending rates than before Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter and its rebranding as X.

Before halting ad placements on X, Tim Cook was directly questioned by CBS' John Dickerson about the company's views on the platform:

"It's a question we ask ourselves. Generally, I think Twitter is an important property," Cook said during that interview. "I like the concept that it's there for debate and that it serves as a public square. There are also some things about it that I don't like."

Cook, who recently spent considerable time in Washington to celebrate President Trump's second term, also crossed paths with Elon Musk, which could have sparked a conversation about Apple's suspension of ads on X.
