The new year is here, and Apple plans a significant push in Home products for 2025. Here are three Home devices expected to be launched next year.

New 'HomePad' device

Perhaps the most exciting new domestic product from Apple in 2025 is its currently anonymous 'HomePad' device.

In relation to Mark Gurman:

Apple... approaches the launch of a new category of products: a wall-mounted display that can control home appliances, manage video conferencing, and use artificial intelligence for navigating between applications... The device has a screen around 6 inches and resembles a square iPad. It is as big as two iPhones side by side, with a thick border around the screen. There is also a front-facing camera, an integrated rechargeable battery, and internal speakers.

Some key features of HomePad are expected to include:

• significant enhancement of Apple's intelligence with an updated version of Siri
• widgets like StandBy, controls for the Home app, and more
• slides from the Photos app
• integrated video camera and FaceTime video/audio intercom
• run Apple apps such as Safari, Music, and Notes

As I wrote elsewhere, this seems exactly the type of domestic device I would like to have.

Gurman reported that the HomePad was initially planned for March but recently suggested it might be a bit later—perhaps in April with iOS 18.4. In any case, sometime at the beginning of the year should see the arrival of this new category of Home products for Apple.

New Apple TV 4K

A few years ago, the last version of Apple TV 4K was released, and Apple plans to unveil a new version this year.

Details on the revised version of Apple TV 4K are limited, but at least we expect:

• Apple Intelligence support
• A18 or A17 Pro processor for AI support
• New integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip

It is likely that Apple will also offer support for new TV display technologies. However, beyond these features, the new Apple TV 4K should probably keep the same form factor as before but with improved capabilities.

The Apple TV 4K is expected to arrive at the end of 2025.

Wrapping up the Apple Home product

The big new initiative from Apple in the smart home market follows years where Apple treated Home products as a hobby. I am excited that the company has a new convincing strategy for its Home range—there is a lot of potential here.

If Apple manages to build a powerful Home ecosystem, it could lead to the arrival of even more innovative products, such as an update to AirPort.
