According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple will launch a new version of the Apple Watch SE this year, as well as updates for the Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3 models. According to current rumors, it seems that this could be a big year for the Apple Watch.

New Version of the Apple Watch SE

Gurman does not provide many specific details about the new Apple Watch SE, apart from the fact that it 'will have a new look'.

Apple introduced the original Apple Watch SE in 2020, based on the design of the Apple Watch Series 4 from 2018. It is possible that we may receive a design that resembles more closely the design of the Apple Watch Series 7 from 2021 – or perhaps something completely new.

Previously, Mark Gurman reported that Apple was considering a plastic case for the Apple Watch SE, which could explain his reference to it. In any case, if you are looking for an Apple Watch SE, I would advise you to wait for this new model, which should finally be launched this year. If Apple decides to use a plastic Apple Watch SE, I would also expect to see a variety of funny colors accompanying it.

Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3

The high-end Apple Watches should not introduce any new designs. Gurman says they 'probably will remain quite similar.' However, this does not mean there is nothing to look forward to.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 should receive a satellite connectivity feature and 5G RedCap support, which will significantly extend the range of connectivity options for users. Apple is likely also to introduce an arterial blood pressure detection feature on the Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3 this year. While Apple's blood pressure readings do not provide specific numbers – such as diastolic or systolic levels – they will alert users to anything they should be aware of:

Heart rate monitoring was initially planned for launch with the Apple Watch Series 10, but it has been delayed due to the thinner design of the watch. However, Apple should be ready to launch this year.

Gurman also indicates that Apple is working on a new AI coaching service and a comprehensive health app, although the calendar is uncertain. These additions should correspond to the release of AirPods with heart rate measurement.

Summary

If all these rumors come true, it seems to refer to what the manufacturer will do next: updating all Apple Watch models simultaneously. This is something they have not done since 2022, where they introduced the Apple Watch SE 2, the Apple Watch Series 8, and the original version of the Apple Watch Ultra.

We were expecting this in 2024, but instead of an Apple Watch Ultra 3 from Apple, we received simply a new black titanium Apple Watch Ultra 2, and the new Apple Watch SE mysteriously never arrived. However, I hope everything goes well this year.
