Colombia lanza el apoyo a los identificadores de Apple Wallet este año

Another state has pledged to support digital identifiers in the Apple Wallet before the end of the year. The Illinois claims that it will launch "the best mobile ID program in the United States" by the end of 2025...

A new law coming into effect in Illinois on January 1st allows the Secretary of State's office to issue for the first time digital identity cards and driver's licenses. As part of this program, the state is also working with Apple to support identifiers in Apple Wallet.

A press statement was made today, where Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias confirmed that the state will launch support for identifiers in Apple Wallet before the end of the year.

We are excited to launch with Apple – a company that shares our commitment to data security – to offer digital identifiers in Apple Wallet that provide both convenience and confidentiality to Illinois residents. This is the first component of a multi-faceted approach aimed at providing a mobile driver's license and cutting-edge state ID program, leveraging leading technologies for residents.

Once the program starts, Illinois residents can add their identifiers to Apple Wallet on their iPhone. Digital identifiers are accepted in "certain businesses and locations" and can be used at some TSA checkpoints.

Residents can visit the Secretary of State's website of Illinois to learn more and register to be informed about developments in digital identities throughout the year.
