The iOS 18.3 release candidate is now available to developers and public beta testers. The update arrives a week after Apple launched the third beta version, which included significant changes to the Apple Intelligence Summary feature.

New features in iOS 18.3 RC are available with build number 22D60. The update is accessible to all internal beta testers and public beta testers.

iOS 18.3 seemed to be a relatively minor update compared to the monstrous versions of iOS 18.1 and iOS 18.2. However, last week, Apple changed course and deployed several important modifications for the Apple Intelligence Summary feature. These changes were made in response to complaints from media outlets such as the BBC about the dissemination of false information by inaccurate summaries.

To address these complaints, Apple has made several modifications with iOS 18.3 beta 3:

• Apple temporarily disabled the Apple Intelligence Summary for the News and Maintenance categories. They will return with a future software update.
• You can now disable notifications summaries for a specific app directly on your iPhone's lock screen.
• Notification summaries now use italic text to better distinguish them from regular notifications.
• When enabling notifications summaries, Apple clearly states that this feature is in beta and 'may contain errors'.

iOS 18.3 should be widely distributed this month. We'll see if Apple has any other modifications planned for the update.
