Apple’s flagship iPhone 16 lineup launched last fall with a heavy emphasis on Apple intelligence. But another new iPhone is coming soon, offering some of the same modern technologies at a much lower cost. Here's when to expect the iPhone SE 4.

The next iPhone SE is expected to launch in March

According to several reports, Apple has set the release date for the iPhone SE 4 for early in the year.

More specifically, March 2025 is a plausible date for the launch.

It’s rare for Apple to launch major new products in January or February (although last year, Vision Pro broke this trend). However, the company has almost always had launches planned for March and/or April.

March is the most likely date, however, according to information coming from the supply chain regarding the production schedule of the iPhone SE 4.

For comparison, previous launches of Apple’s iPhone SE have taken place on the following dates:

• iPhone SE 3: March 18, 2022
• iPhone SE 2: April 24, 2020
• iPhone SE: March 24, 2017

As you can see, Apple has released new iPhone SE models in both March and April, but the only April release happened during the COVID period. It wouldn’t be at all surprising that this April launch was pushed back by the pandemic.

Features of the New iPhone SE 4

When Apple’s new iPhone SE arrives, it’s expected to be a huge improvement over the current SE model.

Here are the highlights of the features:

• Edge-to-edge OLED display with no Home button, Face ID, and notch.
• A18 chip, identical to that in the iPhone 16.
• 8GB of RAM
• Support for Apple intelligence
• 48MP camera at the level of the iPhone 16.
• USB-C port
• and the first 5G modem designed by Apple

All these features will be available at a price significantly lower than that of the iPhone 16.

The current iPhone SE model costs $429. It’s possible that Apple won’t lower the price of the new SE, but we can expect it to have at least an increase in storage capacity compared to the current model and not exceed $499 – maybe even less.

It may lack some superfluous features of the more expensive iPhone 16, but the iPhone SE 4 should be the best model for most buyers.
