According to Mark Gurman's Power On bulletin, Apple sees no update to the Vision Pro in 2025. It indicates that while it is theoretically possible for Apple to announce a headset before its next release, all signs suggest a new version of the Vision Pro which will be launched in 2026.
On the other hand, it reports that Apple's more "urgent" goal is to create a cheaper audio headset, and Apple is accelerating development for this headset.
Other analysts, such as Ming Chi-Kuo, had previously reported that the Apple Vision Pro 2 was on the verge of entering production in the second half of 2025. It was widely expected to use the M5 chip and have support for Apple Intelligence, though few other hardware changes were rumored. Kuo also reported that Apple's cheaper earbuds are being delayed until at least 2027.
Gurman says on the other hand that the cheaper audio headset is an "urgent" goal of Apple. It will not be in delivery by 2025, but we hope it is not too far away:
The urgent goal is to produce a cheaper version of the headset, and Apple is accelerating development of such a product. Stay tuned for more details on this. Apart from this device, codenamed N107, Apple is actively exploring other ideas. This includes an intelligent Ray-Ban version from Meta Platforms Inc., and a vision device like AirPods with cameras.
All these devices would be beyond 2025, but this year should be a crucial step towards this future vision.
Gurman also reports that Apple continues to work on other products implementing portable cameras, including an Apple version of the Ray-Ban Meta glasses and AirPods with cameras. No specific timeline is provided, except that it will be after this year.
