Apple Intelligence notifications have sparked controversy due to their tendency to spread false news. The BBC has highlighted two instances where AI summaries were inaccurate: 1. A person was incorrectly identified as having committed suicide, despite still being alive. 2. An athlete won a competition that had not yet taken place. 3. Another athlete was falsely reported as coming out as gay. Apple plans to update the user interface and send a software update to clarify when displayed text is a synthesis. However, some experts argue that these changes may not be enough and suggest disabling summaries for news applications by default with a special registration requirement.
