Ecco il risultato verificato: "Summary A cellular tablet adds significant cost and may not offer enough value compared to models that use only Wi-Fi. Cellular tablets drain the battery faster and may require more frequent charging compared to models that use only Wi-Fi. Managing multiple SIMs or accounts for cellular tablets can be inconvenient, and using a phone hotspot may be a more convenient option. My first few iPads (of which I had many) were all cellular models and I used that feature intensively. However, times have changed, and the case for a tablet with a cellular antenna is not as strong as it once was. Now I have used only Wi-Fi for many years and am probably never going back. Here's why.

Significantly Increase Costs

You are trying to add around $150 for a cellular radio module in an Android or Apple tablet. Knowing that the value of money varies from person to person, I think this price is very high for this functionality, although you may think differently. If you were to apply that amount elsewhere on the tablet, you might get a better model, a better screen, or more storage instead. In other words, you need a very specific reason to want a cellular modem on your tablet.

Worse Battery Life

You probably noticed how your phone battery drains rapidly when you use its active connection, and that's still true for a tablet. However, you can simply disable cellular data to prevent this problem. Of course, a big part of the desire for a cellular connection comes from receiving push services like messages or video calls. So, unless you want to have a cellular connection occasionally, prepare to charge your battery more often than models with Wi-Fi only.

Always Have The Core Of My Phone With Me

Lucas Gouveia / How It Works / Shutterstock Buying a tablet with an integrated cellular modem means paying for a second cellular connection when I already have one always active. My smartphone and anyone else's can be easily used to configure a Wi-Fi hotspot. As long as your mobile data plan allows tethering, you're ready to proceed. A cellular tablet makes sense when it needs to be used by someone who doesn't have an intelligent phone or if the tablet needs to be shared among multiple devices. However, managing multiple SIMs and counting each device with a cellular module can still be inconvenient. I accept my inability to admit that today it's possible to share a single account across multiple SIM cards, but it remains less fluid than it should be.

I Don't Need a GPS in My Tablet

Even if you don't worry about the cellular aspect of a cellular tablet, GPS functionality is often linked to the presence of a cellular model. However, as always, I carry a smartphone with me. This makes the GPS feature on my tablet superfluous and not a practical navigation device unless you're mounting it on a car or truck due to its size.

Wi-Fi Is Everywhere Now

Perhaps the main reason why I didn't need a cellular tablet for almost a decade is that now Wi-Fi is practically everywhere. Places where it's more likely to use my tablet are also places that offer Wi-Fi; like coffee shops and hotel rooms. This is the same reason why I don't worry about a laptop with an integrated cellular module. I won't take it out of my pocket far from a hotspot. Even if it were necessary, my phone remains my main Internet connection, and unless you want some type of redundancy, there's no need for dual use. If you want a backup cellular connection, I recommend instead buying a Mi-Fi device.
