Meta cambia direzione sul Meta Quest headsets dopo la reazione del pubblico

An update to the software recently led to a significant number of Meta Quest headsets being blocked. Initially, Meta ignored the event and stated that the problem would not be resolved for the models Quest 2/3/3S without warranty...
Not surprisingly, customers were dissatisfied with the fact that Meta had killed their products and then seemed to expect them to buy new ones.
Like many others, my headset crashed and did not turn on when I tried the update on December 5th. I contacted Meta support, and after resolving the issues, they informed me that the headset is dead and I will have to buy a new one.
Others pointed out that it was a naive move even if Meta had only considered its own interests.
The cost of the component is £200. In the third quarter of 2024, Meta recorded profits exceeding $15 billion. This amounts to approximately $2000 per second!
If 1000 people had their devices physically blocked without warranty and assumed a net value of $100 for each device for Meta, they could replace them all with an impact of only 50 seconds on their base line profit.
They spent more time (and therefore money paying people) negotiating and arguing support cases than it would have been necessary to massively replace devices and, in the process, avoid a communications breakdown.
This is even truer when the topic has been about a model that many bought as Christmas gifts.
- Meta Quest headsets are seen as popular Christmas gifts while the app climbs to the top of the App Store.
The company seems to have finally understood the idiocy of its previous position and says it is working on a fix.
We discovered a software update issue that caused some Quest 2/3/3S headsets to be inactive and unable to start correctly. We are actively working to resolve the problem for all users, but in most cases, you can now use your device normally.
If your device is still inactive, we are here to help you. If you have a Quest 3S, click on the link for next instructions. Users of Quest 2 or 3, please contact us for support. Thank you for your understanding.
