Microsoft is trying a new strategy to encourage people to use the Bing search engine. When someone who is not connected to a Microsoft account searches "Google" on Bing, the results page changes to look very similar to Google's.

The interface features a search bar, an image similar to Google at the top, and text below the search bar that imitates the layout of Google. The page scrolls slightly downward to hide the normal Bing search bar. While normal Bing search results continue to be displayed under this fake Google interface, this change only occurs when someone searches "Google". This tactic is particularly notable when people are setting up a new PC with Microsoft Edge browser, which could lead them to use Bing without realizing that they actually want to use Google.

Even though it sounds incredibly cheap, it would probably be very effective for those who are not used to understanding that they need to click on the search result before ending up on Google. Otherwise, they might use the search bar provided by Bing, which seems like Google. Even though it's cheap, it can be argued that this is a way for the search engine to try to trick the user into not using Google instead, and doing so during a moment when Google might have to give Chrome up due to its preference for itself.

The reason behind these statements against Google is that the market should be competitive and not favor a single brand or service. Changing Bing's layout to deceive users in this type of search could lead to legal actions, if many of Google's monopoly claims are an indicator.
