Release date of the HomePod mini 2: Here's when to expect the next update from Apple

This week, Apple plans to launch three new Home products as part of a new offensive for the smart home. Here's when you can expect one of these products, the HomePod mini 2, to make its debut.

Mini HomePods launched at the end of 2025, to compete

The HomePod mini first appeared on the market in 2020, over four years ago. It brought many of the features of the full HomePod into a smaller and more affordable package for $99.

Since then, apart from continuous software updates, the only change to the HomePod mini has been the addition of new color options.

But according to Mark Gurman, this is the year when HomePod mini 2 finally arrives.

In his extensive summary of Apple's product launch plans for 2025, Mark Gurman shared that HomePod mini 2 is "expected to be launched at the end of the year."

A release expected for the end of 2025 also includes the announcement of new features for the Apple TV 4K device.

We are considering a winter presentation for the new product 'HomePad', followed by HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K at the end of the year.

This means it probably means a presentation in October or November.

September is already crowded enough, and this year will be even more so with the iPhone 17 Air and 17 Pro, Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Series 11, and AirPods Pro 3.

But with those side launches, Apple's calendar clears up only with an M5 MacBook Pro and possibly also an M5 iPad Pro debut.

Incorporating some updated versions of the Home products gives you a good hypothetical October event.
