X and Bluesky launch dedicated video channels following uncertainty around TikTok

The social media apps X and Bluesky are both launching dedicated channels for videos, seemingly an attempt to take advantage of the ongoing uncertainty surrounding TikTok.

X shared its statement today with a brief demo video.

A new immersive environment for videos is launching today for US users.

The Play button appears subtle in the app, between the Grok and Notification buttons, as shown above.

Bluesky says it "needs to be part of the video action too" in its statement.

Both moves are clearly a response to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding TikTok's future. You can stay updated on weekend events here, but the app remains unavailable in app stores and even if Trump delivers on his promise of suspending the US ban on Huawei for 90 days, this only delays things.

China remains determined not to sell its operations in the US to an American company and prefers to take them offline rather than do so, while the law says it must either do so or be banned from the US.
