Adobe will no longer accept new sign-ups until January 15, 2024. Existing subscribers will not be removed from the 20GB Photography Plan, but their monthly fee will increase from $10 to $15.

This is an annual price increase for Adobe Photography Plans after about 10 years. As Adobe notes, existing members can switch to annual payment to avoid the price increase. The $120 annual fee remains unchanged; it's a one-time payment, but monthly it amounts to approximately $10.

From January 15, 2025 onwards, new subscribers who want to use Photoshop will need to join either a 1TB Photography Plan (monthly $20), a Creative Cloud All-Apps Plan (monthly $60), or an individual Photoshop Plan (monthly $23). The last option is clearly the best choice.

Sorry, but this timing of the change is terrible. $120 for one year is equivalent to $10 per month, but unexpected $120 charges during the holiday season are very inconvenient. Really Adobe, wasn't a few months enough to wait?

"Pushing new customers into a 1TB Photography Plan is an odd and unnatural idea. Not everyone uses Adobe's cloud storage."

If you want to express dissatisfaction with Adobe, I recommend purchasing Affinity Photo or Pixelmator Pro. These cost $70 and $50 respectively, and are not tied to monthly or annual subscriptions. Also, I would like to point out that Pixelmator Pro was recently acquired by Apple. This could potentially allow users to enjoy free, perpetual updates like Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro. There are also free Photoshop alternatives, but they lack the functionality of professional tools.

Adobe's price changes and plan adjustments apply not just to the United States. Similar changes will be implemented in the UK and other countries. Affected customers can expect Adobe to email them with an explanation of the changes that will occur.
