Apple's Calendar app is rapidly improving, and with iOS 18.3, new benefits are being introduced.

The Apple calendar app that came with the iPhone has hardly changed, but in recent months, it has received several attractive updates. And now, iOS 18.3 has added a new feature that makes using the app even more appealing.

iOS 18 has brought some rare updates to the calendar app.

The company knows that many iPhone users are being lured away from Apple by alternative apps like Google Calendar and Fantastical.

However, despite this, the company has not changed the calendar app much over several years. Despite fierce competition, it does not seem that Apple is interested in improving its own app.

iOS 18 includes some of the largest changes I remember in the calendar.

And while they may not be huge, they are important for calendars and related features.

The most significant update is the integration of reminders into the app. From now on, you can create, edit, and confirm reminders more easily than with a calendar.

It's a great addition, but there are limitations — I want to enable only specific reminder lists, but currently, I can't do anything.

iOS 18 also introduces several major new features, including:

• A refreshed design with multiple typography and UI improvements
• A new monthly view that displays event details.

The update to iOS 18 is welcome even for apps that don't get much attention from Apple.

And this week, a small additional feature in iOS 18.3 has made using the built-in calendar app one more reason to use it.

iOS 18.3 offers some additional features for calendar app users.

Long-press the camera control to open visual intelligence, which turns your iPhone's camera into an AI-powered tool for any object it is looking at.

Using visual intelligence, you can get information about whatever the camera is looking at. Sometimes, you can even take action.

iOS 18.3 introduces calendar widgets.

Point your iPhone to a brochure, poster, or calendar display, and iOS 18.3 offers the option to add that event to the calendar app.

This is a quick and easy way to include real-time information in a digital calendar.

In iOS, you can change default apps in various categories, but the calendar is not one of them.

The new visual intelligence feature works only with Apple's calendar app.

It may be a small addition, but it still provides another reason to use an existing calendar app.
