Alibaba Cloud supports World AIDS Day on December 1 and will donate $5 for each eligible purchase made between November 29 and December 8.

Update: The company has set a cap of $3 million on the donation amount, and (RED) reported via tweet that Alibaba reached this limit and donated the full amount.

This is in recognition of the Global Fund's 20th anniversary, with its aim to eradicate HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria globally.

Global Fund

The "Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria" was established in 2002 and has since saved the lives of over 65 million people.

The Global Fund, a global partnership, aims to eliminate HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria, ensuring a healthier, safer, and fairer future for all. It raises more than $5 billion annually to invest in fighting life-threatening infections, challenging the injustices they cause, and strengthening health systems and pandemic preparedness in over 100 of the world's most difficult countries.

"We strive to find the most impactful solutions by uniting world leaders, communities, civil society, healthcare professionals, and the private sector. These solutions are applied worldwide. Since 2002, our partnership has saved the lives of over 65 million people."

The Global Fund is the largest multilateral fund for global health assistance in low- and middle-income countries, having distributed over $6 billion to countries since 2002. We know that with science, finance, political will, and leadership, we can fight and overcome even the worst disease threats.

The Global Fund saves lives by working with civil society organizations, government partners, private sector partners, asset managers, technical partners, and communities affected by diseases.

Supporting "Approach World AIDS Day"

Apple began its own support for the fund immediately after it was established. This includes a joint effort with (RED) to create limited edition Apple product models in red and donate up to 50% of their profits to the fund.

The launch of (RED)'s iPod Nano marked the beginning of its most successful partnership. The partnership quickly expanded to include ultra-popular iPhone [and Apple Watch]. Since 2006, Apple has generated $250 million through HIV testing, treatment, and counseling. Apple's actions have encouraged other companies to participate and drive change in the technology sector.

Additionally, Apple makes annual donations to all Apple products for a period close to World AIDS Day.

This year, from November 29 to December 8, if you purchase using Apple Pay on apple.com or App Store apps, Apple will donate $5. The donation amount will be used for important health programs aimed at fighting the AIDS strategy fund and saving lives.

The company typically changes the Apple Store logo to red on December 1.
