Apple will soon stop selling upfront AppleCare+ plans of 2-3 years in physical stores and potentially online. Users will only be able to subscribe monthly or annually. This shift suggests a move towards a fully subscription-based AppleCare model. While users can still purchase upfront plans for some devices currently, this option may disappear entirely in the future.
Appleは、AppleCare+の複数年契約購入オプションを廃止する見通しであると報じられています。

According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple will stop offering 2-3 year AppleCare+ plans for purchase in physical Apple Stores and on devices starting next week.

This change primarily affects users who try to buy from Apple's retail stores. They will lose the option to buy an AppleCare plan upfront and will only have the option to subscribe monthly or annually.

Apple is expected to discontinue the option to purchase an upfront plan when buying a device. This will affect all users who do not purchase an AppleCare plan when buying a device.

Based on Gurman's tweet, it seems likely that when purchasing products online, only 2-3 year plans will be available for AppleCare+.

Apple may have a larger plan to make all AppleCare purchases subscription-based. However, at least for now, there is still a way to pay for AppleCare plans upfront.

For example, with the 14-inch MacBook Pro, you can purchase 3 years of AppleCare upfront for $279. This compares to an annual subscription of $99.99. With the upfront plan, you save about $20.
