Colorado Energy Office and ChargePoint have completed the project to install 80 fast-charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) along six high-speed roads in Colorado. Such projects increase the number of places EV owners can charge their vehicles and make it more convenient to move around.

Before this project, there were not enough high-speed charging options on many major high-speed roads in Colorado. The new stations are located in convenient places along high-speed roads (Interstate 40, 70, 50, and 550), such as convenience stores and tourist attractions.

This expansion is essential to support Colorado's strong market for electric vehicles. As more people purchase electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, the increase in charging stations allows EV drivers to move confidently within the state with the assurance of reliable charging. Such actions and investments in opening EV charging stations expand the entire network of electric vehicle charging stations.

Colorado Governor Jerry Polis said, "Colorado is leading EV sales and making it possible for everyone to move with EVs more affordably and conveniently. With the growing network of EV charging stations in Colorado, EV owners can move with confidence knowing they have a place to charge their vehicles when they go shopping, to work, or around the state."

This project has received funding from the state of $10 million and from private companies and local governments for over $2 million. As a result, the high-speed charging network in Colorado has almost doubled, and the coverage area within 30 miles of charging stations has increased from nearly 40% to almost 80%. They are using the ChargePoint Express Plus technology.

Drivers can find the new charging stations through the ChargePoint mobile app or website. Additionally, a list of charging station locations will be fully publicly available on the website of the Roadrunner Energy Office. The increase in high-speed charging options is expected to make traveling by electric vehicle easier, which is hoped to encourage more people to switch to EVs and reduce concerns about power outages on the way.
