Does a color reader have value for manga fans?

Color e-readers are now mainstream, available at reasonable prices. This makes one wonder if it's time to move from tablet comic reading to an e-reader. The answer depends on your tolerance for specific sacrifices, so let's look at the options.
What is a color electronic reader?
A basic black and white e-ink screen operates with small black and white capsules suspended in liquid. There are two types of capsule, each carrying a charge or weight. Applying electrons to the cells of an e-ink display causes white or black capsules to rise or fall, thus controlling what is displayed.

Unlike emissive display technology, E Ink uses light that reflects like regular paper. The 'Tornado' concept allowed for 4096 colors, but in 2021, Kaleido 2 screens evolved this technology with plastic color filters.
E-Ink displays used in e-readers generally follow the principle of tritone/cardioid display, but ACeP (Advanced Color Electronic Paper) actually uses four pigments: yellow, blue, purple, and white. This allows for 32,000 colors. To get the best color images, prepare to purchase an e-reader from a brand that has released an e-reader using this technology and is willing to pay for it. For example, rumors suggest Amazon may release an ACeP Kindle in 2025.
However, what I'm saying here is based on my intuitive sense of the current color electronic ink devices I've seen, and they may differ from any potential future improvements.
The color isn't the issue, but don't compare it to a regular screen.
"Color e-readers significantly improve comic reading compared to monochrome versions, but modern LCDs dominate in terms of brightness, accuracy, and resolution. "

Kindle makes it seem like someone printed a comic book edition and ran out of ink. The pages look like those left out in the sun, with colors fading. However, if you already have a color reader, you can read comics this way without any issues. Of course, other advantages of e-readers (long-lasting batteries) are not considered.
You might be happy compromising on the color and resolution of images for the benefits of an e-reader. But with options available, enjoying comics on modern LCD or OLED panels is preferred. In fact, the same feeling applies to monochrome e-ink.
Old comics drawn long ago may last better.
"An exception might be vintage comic books. Comics from the golden and silver ages were printed on cheap pulp paper with little color and dim brightness. Therefore, I don't think reading them on a color ink device would significantly lose their original flavor."
"Please refer to the page of 'Iron Man' you've shown. An e-reader might not look like that, but overall it won't deviate significantly from the intended experience."
The value in looking before buying
Ultimately, what truly matters is how comfortable color e-ink is for your eyes. I still haven't purchased these devices myself because I recently went to a major electronics store in my area and actually checked them out. I can see that the technology is not yet fully prepared. However, with continuous improvements and advanced color e-ink technology on the horizon, it might change.
