What is a connection?

Connections is a game published by the New York Times. The objective is simple: arrange 16 words into four groups. Each group's words are connected by a common idea or theme. This common element can be anything. We've seen various forms of games, from those based on the number of letters in a word to categories that require identifying additional letters at the end of the last letter. Sometimes there were references related to economics, and sometimes there were references to novels. It's not clear what kind of relationships exist between words.

If you feel confident about understanding connections, select four words and press 'Submit'. You have a total of 4 attempts, so don't be too risky.

How to Guess a Connection Group?

There is no quick and reliable method like Wordle for solving Connections. This is because Connections is not based on an algorithm. However, keeping in mind a few points can be helpful.

"× Remove Ad"
  1. Try it out. Sometimes saying words helps. One puzzle contained words such as go (go), rate (speed), faster (faster), clip (clip), pace (pace), speed (speed), move (move), commute (commute), and hurry (hurry). These are clearly related to ideas of movement. However, when you say them, it becomes somewhat clear that only four of them are things you should actually say to move someone (go, move, hurry, faster).
  2. Red fish expectation. Connections usually include words that can be reasonably combined even if they're incorrect. For example, consider the words 'bod', 'cola', and 'light'. These three words might seem like they could go together, but they don't actually belong in a category related to beer.
  3. Find different words. Check if any of the words on the board have multiple meanings or are only used in specific contexts, and use one of those words as the basis for your category.
  4. Shuffle them around. Sometimes changing the position of the words gives you a new perspective.
