Samsung is not only producing its flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Z phones, but also various other, more affordable devices. These devices are good choices for those who want to purchase a mobile phone without spending too much money. Now, the first budget-friendly Samsung smartphone in 2025 will be the Galaxy A16 5G, and there are several reasons why it is cool.

Samsung has announced its latest model of the Galaxy A series, the A16 5G. This is the most entry-level phone among Samsung's phones, but it does not include the ultra-budget-friendly Galaxy A0x series. This device features an FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a size of 6.7 inches. Considering its refresh rate of 90Hz and peak brightness of 800 nits, it can be considered a good choice for budget phones.

Regarding the camera, this smartphone is equipped with a primary sensor of 50MP, a ultra-wide lens of 5MP, a macro lens of 2MP, and a front-facing camera of 13MP. While its camera capabilities are not very strong in this category, they should be sufficient for occasional photography. It may not be excellent, but it is more than acceptable. Internally, the Galaxy A16 5G is powered by one of Samsung's entry-level SoCs, the Exynos 1330 processor. It has a long-lasting battery of 5,000mAh and fast charging capability at 25W.

The most attractive aspect of this phone is likely its excellent software support for budget. Samsung promises six generations of software updates, including One UI and Android OS updates. Additionally, they provide security updates for six years. It is unclear whether 14th or 15th generation Android will be released, but with six years of updates, it can be updated to up to 20th or 21st generation Android, extending its lifespan until 2031.

Many smartphones priced under $300 have a destiny to receive at most two major Android updates. However, Samsung is providing six updates here (one less than flagship phones), which is quite good. This phone can be purchased for as low as $199.99 and is available from stores and Samsung's website starting January 9, 2023.
