The Document Foundation has today released LibreOffice 24.8.4 as the fourth maintenance update of the latest LibreOffice 24.8 office suite series, making it available to users worldwide. This release resolves over 50 bugs.

Released five weeks after LibreOffice 24.8.3, LibreOffice 24.8.4 addresses many issues reported by users, crashes, and other inconveniences. The ultimate goal is to improve the overall stability and reliability of this open-source, free, and cross-platform office suite.

The update for LibreOffice 24.8.4 fixes a total of 55 bugs. Details about these bugs can be found in the change logs for RC1 and RC2. LibreOffice 24.8.4 is available as binary packages for DEB and RPM-based GNU/Linux distributions from the official website.

For system integrators or those who want to compile software from source, the source tarball is also available. If you are installing LibreOffice from the software repositories of GNU/Linux distributions, we recommend updating to the new release when the package becomes available.

LibreOffice 24.8 was released on August 21, 2024, with new privacy features to prevent personal information export, a new mode for password-based ODF encryption, several UI improvements, and enhanced support for multi-page floating tables. Among other changes, this version includes significant updates.

The LibreOffice 24.8 office suite series will provide seven maintenance updates until June 12, 2025. The next point release, LibreOffice 24.8.5, is planned for mid-February 2025. At the same time, The Document Foundation recommends updating to new point releases as soon as possible.

Once again, The Document Foundation reminds us that this is the "community" version of LibreOffice, supported by volunteers. For enterprise-level deployments, we recommend using the LibreOffice Enterprise family applications provided by ecosystem partners.
