US Supreme Court to review TikTok's ban appeal. Oral argument on Jan 10, 2025. Deadline for briefs: Dec 27, 2024. Hope for legal victory after months of setbacks.
Will TikTok be banned in the US? It should be handed over to the Supreme Court this time.

TikTok had already removed its options before being banned in the US. However, TikTok's only hope source has finally appeared. The US Supreme Court has agreed to hear TikTok's arguments against a potential ban. Details are as follows.

The US Supreme Court plans to review TikTok's challenge on January 10, 2023.

Under a law enacted by the US Congress and signed by President Joe Biden, TikTok will be banned in the US unless ByteDance sells its US stock of social apps.

All of ByteDance's various issues were futile.

However, there is another line of legal method that could potentially help: the US Supreme Court.

Today, the Supreme Court officially agreed to publicly review the case on January 10, 2025 (Friday).

"There will be a two-hour oral argument allocated for TikTok and its legal adversaries."

Both sides have some early deadlines that they need to meet.

"According to the Supreme Court's memo:"

The parties are instructed to submit an initial brief with a 13,000-word limit electronically by noon on Friday, December 27, 2024. A joint appendix must be submitted along with it. These documents need to be submitted by 5 PM EST on that day. The response brief should be submitted electronically with a 6,000-word limit and is due by 5 PM EST on Friday, January 3, 2025. Any friend-of-the-court briefs must also be submitted within the same timeframe.

The hearing date of January 10th has only a small margin until the deadline of January 19th.

"After the oral argument on January 10th, the Senate may expedite its decision, but an immediate ruling would be unusual."

Another element in this discussion is that US President-elect Donald Trump suggests that he will try to cancel the ban if possible. He will take office on January 20th.

However, the Supreme Court's involvement is good news for TikTok and its owner ByteDance. It means there is still hope for their legal case.

"Do you think TikTok will actually be banned? Why or why not? Please let us know in the comments."
