TikTok announced a statement on Friday evening regarding the possibility of suspension. In essence, despite the US government delaying the enforcement of the ban ordered by the Trump administration, there are no plans to continue operations until the weekend.

"TikTok cites the uncertainty from the government as the reason for their plan to remain dark over the weekend."

The announcement from the US Department of Justice and the Biden administration does not provide the clarity and assurance that TikTok needs as an important service provider to serve 170 million Americans. Unfortunately, TikTok may not be able to stop its services on January 19, 2023, until the Biden government makes a decisive statement and provides non-enforceable guarantees to the most important service providers.

Upon closer inspection, it seems that TikTok intends to show American users what kind of ban the Trump administration would impose if it were to implement it. It is worth noting that there are no clear laws prohibiting TikTok from stopping its services in the US. Instead, China is demanding that TikTok leave and be transferred to a private US company. This is the legal aspect when Skype South Coast rejects TikTok's claim of free speech (which does not apply in China).

The US government has changed its leadership since Monday afternoon, with former President Trump being replaced by Joe Biden. Trump himself remains uncertain about how his government will address the implementation of the TikTok sale law.

Perhaps, the Biden administration will issue a more reassuring statement that TikTok can operate in the US. However, from a responsibility standpoint, any guarantee from either government is unlikely to provide TikTok with a risk-free legal position for continuous operation in the US.

Currently, TikTok appears to be considering using its selective encryption capability on Sunday to indicate to customers that their dependence on it has increased and that it may harm brain cells. If this were to happen, attention might only slightly increase from Wednesday to Thursday.

The representative of TikTok in the US plans to attend Trump's inauguration on Monday. During this time, Apple CEO Tim Cook and other UN tech advocates will also be present. Among them are people who have recently lost a million dollars each.
