The minimal note-taking app for Mac, "Type". Easily capture and organize notes with simple keyboard shortcuts. Perfect for jotting down anything quickly when you need it, without any potential distractions.

How It Works

Type has a feature similar to Spotlight. Press a specific keybinding, and a text box will pop up. I changed my key settings to Alt-Space so that it's easy to access. When the window opens, you can create new notes and write anything in the text box.

"If all you need is a quick note during a meeting, this one is perfect for you. Your thoughts are timestamped, and you can easily recall details as you type."

You can also separate different events into different notes, making it easier to organize. Alternatively, you can put everything in one note. It's up to you. Type saves your notes in text files on your Mac's local storage, which makes it private and easy to track. Your data is not enclosed within the app.

All Features

Type has a feature to import notes from other applications (e.g., Obsidian). This allows users to add additional information to those notes. You can also customize date formats and switch between plain text and markdown. Additionally, you can unlink notes from Type to clean up the interface without actually deleting that information.

Developers plan to add a feature that keeps the app open even if keyboard shortcuts are not to your liking. They also aim to make it possible to quickly search for and export notes.
