Apple has released the second beta version of iOS 18.3 this week. While it is indeed an exciting update, it does not add any major new features. However, this update reveals details about a possible new app called "Invites."

"Developing a new 'Invites' app"

The first reference to the unreleased "Apple Invites" app was found in the beta version of iOS 18.2. The code was removed from the final version but returned in beta version 2 of iOS 18.3.

After analyzing the code, we believe this app will be useful for organizing meetings and actual events for users. While Apple's Calendar app can already serve this purpose, the new Invites app may have some additional features.

The code indicates that the Invites app integrates with iCloud and a web version is planned for iCloud.com. The new app will also integrate with GroupKit, a new daemon in iOS 18. This daemon has existed since the first release of iOS 18.0 and has not been used by any other Apple apps.

The app displays a list of people invited to an event and a list of those who have already confirmed their participation. It is unclear whether Invites is an independent app or if Apple plans to integrate it with other systems (such as the mini iMessage app). Perhaps, this app provides a more fun interface for inviting someone to an event compared to the current Calendar app.

Apple has not mentioned anything about this app at WWDC 2024 where iOS 18 was announced. Therefore, it is possible that the company is experimenting with this idea and may delay or discontinue it in future iOS versions.

In October, it was reported that Apple is developing a new game-focused app store. This app store will include features from Game Center. Although the company has been running this application in the internal build of iOS 18, it may be delayed until iOS 19.
