Epic Games launched as a channel to distribute Fortnite's mobile version, which began with a dispute between Apple and Google. However, Epic Games has always had a big ambition for the mobile version of Epic Games Store. And finally, it was able to achieve its ambition by allowing third-party games into the mobile game marketplace.

Epic Games announced an expansion of its Epic Games Store that includes third-party mobile games. CEO Tim Sweeney revealed that the store provides titles from many developers and that paid and free-to-play games are available globally on Android and iOS in the United Kingdom.

To try out the store, Epic has started a free mobile game program. This program offers the option of changing the regularly provided free titles. Initially, new free games will appear once a month, and it is planned to occur once a week by the end of this year. The program provides a series of games for free until February 20, 2023.

As part of its expansion, Epic Games Store mobile app is undergoing important updates. These include continuous persistent Epic account login functionality across platforms and automatic update functionality for games and apps. Developers are encouraged to submit their mobile games for sale on the marketplace with attractive conditions provided by Epic. This includes an 88/12 revenue share for payments processed by Epic, and no transaction fees for third-party payment methods. Additionally, Epic's "Epic Launch Anywhere" program reduces the royalty rate for Unreal Engine games launched in the Epic Games Store from 5% to 3.5% after 2025. However, this is limited to cases where the platform is not simultaneously or prior to launching on another store.

It's worth noting that Epic has long announced its support for game launches in mobile stores. It might seem a bit funny when it's reissued as new, but it seems like the service will start soon this time. Also, AltStore PAL, which Epic is funding part of its funding, has already supported game launches for some time.

The self-publishing tool for mobile games is currently in an invitation-only beta version, and Epic plans to make it widely accessible later this year. Developers are encouraged to submit their games so they can be considered.
