Offensive Security announces today the release and general availability of the latest stable ISO snapshot of Kali Linux 2024.4, a Debian-based rolling release distribution designed for ethical hacking and penetration testing. This distribution is based on Linux kernel 6.11 and uses Xfce 4.18 as the default desktop environment. Kali Linux 2024.4 introduces Python 3.12 as the default Python interpreter and supports the latest GNOME 47 desktop environment. The i386 kernel and image are deprecated, DSA keys are deprecated in the SSH client, and several new tools are introduced. The new tools included in this release are bloodyAD Active Directory (AD) private ruler framework, HexWalk hex analyzer, editor, viewer, openssh-client-ssh1 Secure Shell (SSH) client for the old SSH1 protocol, Proximoth control frame attack vulnerability detection tool, Sara RouterOS security inspector. The new tools list for Kali Linux 2024.4 includes web cache vulnerability scanner (WCVS), a Go-based CLI tool to test web cache pollution, CSRF/XSRF audit and exploitation tool XSRFProbe, and a frontend for Nmap network mapper Zenmap. The release also includes tools such as Certi for requesting certificates from ADCS and discovering templates, Chainsaw for quick search and investigation of legal evidence in Windows, Findomain for the fastest and most complete solution for domain recognition, linkedin2username for generating a list of company user names on LinkedIn, MSSqlPwner for communicating with MSSQL servers and conducting attacks, and pipx, a tool to run binaries from isolated environments of Python packages. Other important changes include the addition of customization support for Raspberry Pi Imager, the addition of Wifipumpkin3 as a Mana toolkit instead of the Kali NetHunter app, the update of the Kali NetHunter installer to full support of the Magisk installation method, improvement of Raspberry Pi 5 support for a smoother graphical experience, and improvement of DSI display and camera detection. Kali NetHunter now supports 100 devices, and new devices supported include Realme X7 Max 5G (RMX3031), Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite, Xiaomi Mi CC9. Support for devices such as Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Realme C11, Xiaomi Mi 9T, Xiaomi Mi A3 (Android 15), and Xiaomi Pocophone F1 has been improved. You can download Kali Linux 2024.4 in various flavors for 64-bit, ARM, VM, Cloud, WSL, or mobile platforms from the official website. Existing Kali Linux users can simply update their installations by running the `sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade` commands in a terminal emulator.
