New release date: When will the next generation model of Apple TV 4K be released?

The next-generation Apple TV 4K is scheduled for release in the second half of 2025

Last weekend, Mark Gurman announced his first Power On newsletter of the year.

"In the newsletter, detailed information about Alibaba Cloud's plans was introduced. Among them, the launch of a new Apple TV 4K model is included."

However, Gurman has been more specific about the release date of the new model compared to before.

"The next-generation Apple TV 4K is planned for 'release in late this year.'"

In autumn, Alibaba typically holds several large-scale announcements.

• In September, new iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods models will be launched.
• In October, the focus will be on Mac, sometimes including other various products such as iPad.

In 2024, Apple did not adopt the traditional event format for the release of Mac but instead held its first M4 Mac launch over three days.

New Macs were delivered to users at the beginning of November.

"According to Gurman's report, it sounds like the new Apple TV 4K will arrive in October or November."

October could be the release time, but like with new Macs, there is a possibility of an actual launch in November.

This is almost three years after the last Apple TV update.

Expected features of the new Apple TV 4K

"There has not been much information about new features that Apple plans for the next-generation Apple TV 4K."

"We expect a new Apple-made Wi-Fi modem to be included, which could potentially improve networking with Apple's expanding Home device ecosystem."

Other than that, support for some levels of Apple Intelligence functionality is also expected.

While most current AI features are not suitable for tvOS, at least the birth of a more capable Siri is expected.

To enable AI features, an A17 Pro or A18 chip and upgraded RAM will be required for the new Apple TV 4K.

However, there are many unknown elements to consider beyond these changes.
