Apple has released updated RC (Release Candidate) builds for iOS 18.2, macOS 15.2 RC, and other software beta versions. These are expected to be released before the anticipated public release this week, following the first RC version that arrived last week.

What to Expect from RC Release Updates

Last week, Apple announced the release of upcoming RC versions for iOS 18.2 and macOS 15.2. However, as is sometimes the case, the company decided not to distribute all of these RC builds to all users. Today's RC beta is expected to represent the final version of iOS 18.2, with no further changes expected. The new RC build numbers are as follows:

• iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 are version 22C151.
• macOS 15.2 is build 24C100.
• vOS 18.2 is build 22K155.
• visionOS 2.2 is build 22N841.

RC betas should be expected to introduce no new features. The main purpose of an RC is to eliminate as many bugs as possible before a broad release of software updates. Apple hopes that today's RC will match the software that will be released to the public. Typically, only two RC builds are released for public use. However, if a major bug is discovered, new RCs may appear before a significant release.

New Features in iOS 18.2

The new features in iOS 18.2, which are expected to be included in today's beta version, are summarized below. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced user, this overview of everything you can expect from the beta version is provided. The most significant feature is the second wave of Apple Intelligence functions. These include:

• Genmoji, which allows you to create your own custom emojis
• Integration of Siri and ChatGPT, with a drawing tool and a playground for creating original images using the iPhone 16 model's camera controls
• A new document creation tool with an "Explain Changes" option
• Localized English support for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom

These features are limited to devices compatible with Apple Intelligence, including all models of the iPhone 16, and the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. However, in addition to AI, many new features have been added in iOS 18.2, making them available on all iPhones. Highlights include a major redesign of the Mail app, changes to the new camera controls, the ability to share item locations with other users using Find My, and many additional features.
