This new feature might finally bring me back to macOS by 2025.

I had been using the iPad Pro as my main computer for several years. I occasionally tried out a Mac, but due to various reasons, I always stayed with the iPad. However, it may be that a new feature recently released by Apple could lead me back to the Mac in 2025.

"A New Device Changing My Computer Habits"

This article requires knowledge from two fields:

2. Why I initially fully embraced the iPad Pro

The new device

"I had been carrying it for a long time, but recently, I purchased the Apple Vision Pro."

"I was using that device, but I actually started carrying it as my own last month."

"I will write more about why I finally bought one later. However, an important thing to keep in mind is that Mac Virtual Display was a major factor.

So, the new feature that might lead me back to the Mac is essentially a Mac feature.

Much more accurately, this is a feature of Vision Pro and is called Mac Virtual Display, which has recently received significant updates.

"The recent update to visionOS 2.2 by Apple made Mac Virtual Display more appealing. This involved three changes:

1. Wide and ultra-wide display modes
2. High-quality display resolution
3. Better audio routing

I haven't tried the old Mac virtual display feature, but its latest version is particularly appealing.

"I want to do more calculations in native visionOS apps, but so far, that option is quite limited. For example, I can't use my usual reference text editing app Ulysses or image editing apps that are among my preferred ones."

I can say many reasons why I love working on an iPad Pro, but I will defer a detailed explanation of that for now.

Mac Experience Irrelevant Whether Using Vision Pro or Not

"I don't expect to wear Vision Pro for 8 hours a day, nor do I plan on using it for remote work (at least not for now).

However, if I am using macOS within the Vision Pro environment, I might find things easier in my non-Vision Pro work as well.

I am still not fully decided. If I were to replace the iPad Pro, some of the Mac's shortcomings would remain, and I would need to find a way to overcome them.

However, Vision Pro opened up an openness towards full-time Mac computation that I had been feeling for a long time.

I can't afford to miss out on what happens in 2025.
