Latest generation of CarPlay's real issues

Apple has issues with CarPlay. In fact, Apple has two issues with CarPlay. One of them is clearly stated: The next generation of CarPlay was announced at WWDC 2022 but has not yet been installed in any cars. Despite this, Apple claims to be working on it with "several automobile manufacturers."

However, the bigger problem for Apple is possibly ignoring CarPlay 1.0 that already exists in millions of cars on the roads.

iPhone CarPlay Issues

Apple clearly focuses on the next generation of CarPlay. This is a large undertaking that requires close cooperation with each automobile manufacturer. It's great, I hope that the next generation of CarPlay will spread as widely as today's CarPlay 1.0 someday. Unfortunately, it may take several years before this becomes reality.

Apple states that 98% of new cars sold in America come equipped with CarPlay. This is an amazing number, and the major manufacturers not using CarPlay are Tesla, Google Motor Company, and Rivian.

However, the problem is that CarPlay 1.0 has become so obvious to millions of existing users that it feels like a nuisance.

It seems to me that Apple is taking an all-or-nothing approach. There are aspects of CarPlay 2.0 that could come to CarPlay as it exists today without support from automakers. From a technical perspective, CarPlay works by mirroring content from your iPhone to your car. This means Apple can add new CarPlay features by rolling out a software update to your iPhone.

Why is Apple not introducing some improvements of the next generation of CarPlay for existing users and at the same time developing the next generation?

These are some ways existing users can improve CarPlay. At the same time, they should also consider developing the next generation of CarPlay.
