PeaZip 10.2, an open-source archive manager, has been released for Linux using the Qt 6 package.
PeaZip 10.2 was released today as the latest update to this open-source, free, and cross-platform file compression and encryption software (for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Windows). From almost two months after the release of PeaZip 10.1, PeaZip 10.2 adds support for changing the compression levels Brotli -q 11 and Zstd –ultra -22 through the GUI, as well as adding support to manually delete input files or folders when a task ends in the "Options" tab of the task progress dialog. PeaZip 10.2 improves issue detection when viewing archives with the 7z/p7zip frontend, automatically testing comments when opening archives of the appropriate type (e.g., RAR, ZIP, ZIPX). It also improves keyboard shortcuts, updates the app icon to appear the same on all platforms, and updates the Tux theme for better performance in dark mode. In this Linux release, a binary package compiled with Qt 6 has been added, along with an alpha-quality GTK3 binary package for testing purposes. In Flatpak version, default Wayland support is enabled, compiled with the Qt 6 widget set, and includes an X11 fallback option for some systems that do not work with Wayland. In PeaZip 10.2, the 7z backend has been updated to 24.09, and new default dictionary sizes have been set for LZMA/LZMA2. Additionally, Pea 1.22 with hybrid KDF has been introduced, further enhancing the durability of the KDF stage in triple cascade encryption. Other changes include updating icons in the progress window to match compression formats, and changing the "macOS service menus" entry to a link to the same-named folder. For more details on this release, please check the changelog. You can download ready-to-use 64-bit and ARM64 Linux binaries for GTK and Qt graphical user interfaces from PeaZip 10.2 or install it as a Flatpak application from Flathub.
