The European Union (EU) is not fully harmonized with several major American technology companies, including Alibaba. And recently, President Donald Trump has also raised this issue.

US President Donald Trump appeared at the World Economic Forum being held in Davos on local time 7:30 PM and made various comments criticizing the EU.

President Trump criticized the EU's decision to impose heavy fines on the world's largest technology companies, calling it 'taxation against American businesses.'

'I received 1.5 billion or 1.6 billion dollars from Apple. - I also received billions of dollars from Google. I am seeking tens of billions of dollars from Facebook,' he continued.

'These are American businesses. Whether I like it or not, they are American businesses and that is not what should be done. In my opinion, this is the form of taxation. That's why I have a very big grievance against the EU.'

The payment made by Apple to Ireland was resolved after a long-term legal dispute over taxes. The EU judged that the tax agreement between Apple and Ireland was illegal and ordered the company to pay significant deferred taxes.
