ソネットは新しいEcho 13 Thunderbolt 5 SSDドックを発表しました。このドックには統合されたNVMeストレージが搭載されています。

Sonnet has announced its new Echo 13 Thunderbolt 5 SSD dock. This is the first of its kind and will be released soon. The Echo 13 also comes with many other I/O ports. If you own an M4 Pro Mac mini or are using an M4 Pro or M4 Max MacBook Pro, you can take advantage of the additional bandwidth provided by Thunderbolt 5. However, even if you have an older Mac that uses Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4, Echo 13 is fully compatible.
Sonnet's latest dock includes M.2 SSD options from Kingston with a maximum data transfer support of up to 6,100 MB/s. It also features a 2.5Gb Ethernet connection and can provide up to 140W of power to devices like MacBook Pro.
Here is an explanation of all the inputs and outputs included in Echo 13:
- 4 Thunderbolt 5 ports - 1 upstream and 3 downstream
- 4 USB 3.2 Type-A ports
- 2.5Gbps Ethernet (RJ45) port
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- "SD card and microSD card slots"
Echo 13 Thunderbolt 5 Compatibility
The feature of Echo 13 is, of course, its compatibility with Thunderbolt 5. Sonnet provides four physical ports for this purpose. Thunderbolt 5 is a significant upgrade compared to the previous generation, providing up to 80Gbps bidirectional data transfer, allowing more ports to offer high performance.
Thunderbolt 5 also offers bandwidth enhancement technology, providing up to 120Gbps of bandwidth in one direction. Since Sonnet's dock fully supports bandwidth enhancement, it is expected to be compatible with high-end display solutions (recently released LG UltraFine 6K Display, etc.) that will be released in the future.
Regarding displays, Echo 13 supports up to two 8K displays, two 6K displays, or three 4K displays. Of course, this depends significantly on the capabilities of your host computer.

If you don't have a Mac with Thunderbolt 5, there's no need to worry. Each port supports Thunderbolt 5, 4, and 3 for connecting accessories and peripheral devices. The same port also supports USB 4 V2, USB4, USB3 devices, and USB displays.
The two downstream Thunderbolt ports of Echo 13 are located on the back of the unit and can provide up to 15W each for charging or bus-powered devices. The third downstream port is configured in front of the upstream port with a maximum power output of 60W, suitable for quickly charging the latest tablets and smartphones.
Don't forget the four USB 3.2 Type-A ports on Echo 13. Among them, three can support up to 10Gbps and 7.5W even when the computer is off.
Sonnet Echo 13 Availability
Sonnet plans to send a limited number of Echo 13 Thunderbolt 5 SSD docks with a 4TB SSD this month, increasing the quantity in mid-March 2025. The MSRP for Echo 13 when it reaches distributors is $669.99. If storage isn't needed, 1TB and 2TB options will also be available from mid-March 2025, with MSRPs of $399.99 and $499.99 respectively.
I have always been fond of Sonnet's previous hardware, especially docks. The 20-port SuperDock (review) is still regularly used, and its strength and abundance of I/O ports are exceptional. Of course, I am looking forward to trying Echo 13 with a Thunderbolt 5 Mac. What do you think? Let's voice our opinions in the comments section.
