Spotify's annual report is now complete. We explain how we calculate your preferences.

When does Spotify Wrapped stop?
Premium listeners have the option to use some lists offline. What happens to the music you listen to offline or download to listen to? Spotify records these listening figures and updates them when you connect next time. If you listen to Spotify offline during a trip, the count of Wrapped will consider these listening figures. Are private listening sessions counted?
Private listening sessions are included in the total listening time, but the songs from that session are not included in the final 'Wrapped' countdown. If you listen to something during a private session, 'Wrapped' is expected not to add that year's total listening time. This is a convenient method to avoid the guilty pleasure of seeing the 'Wrapped' display.Podcasts are also counted
When you use podcasts on Spotify, they are not shown in the Wrapped image, but they are included in the total listening time. Spotify Wrapped provides the top 5 artists and songs, but podcasts are unfortunately excluded from the count. This year, Wrapped has provided us with something new. Wrapped includes a page to explore your music evolution. This feature shows how the music you listened to at the end of the year differs from what you listened to at the beginning of the year. Some of us are surprised by how different our two preferences are.Spotify is collecting your data, but it's not arrogant.
Joe Fedewa / How-To Geek Many applications collect your data, and Wrapped is one of those small things that can be useful. The data Spotify collects to make Wrapped possible includes:- What you've listened to and how much time you've spent listening
- When you listen and what you listen to during that time? Genres you skip, repeat, and listen to the most
It also ignores what you do during private sessions. However, the collected data allows us to understand what type of listener you are with a high degree of accuracy.
The data you provide to Spotify is used to match you with better music. This is based on the principle of collaborative listening. In the simplest form, if you're listening to the same artist as someone else, you might also like the other artists or songs they're listening to. Spotify also uses voice models to identify the type of music you listen to the most. Then, by combining this with your listening habits, it develops a curated list. The more you like the music you listen to, the better the 'For You' automatically generated list gets. If you want to know more about Spotify's insights, you can check your Spotify statistics yourself. Does Wrapped just list the content recommended by the algorithm? Now that you understand how Spotify calculates statistics and what data it collects, you might think that Wrapped is just a collection of things that propose what the algorithm thinks you should listen to. In a way, this is true. If your listening habits are limited to discovery playlists and numerous automatically generated playlists, your only power is to skip. If you have a 'Favorite Songs' playlist likeカテゴリー
