Thunderbolt 5 is the latest standard that has already begun appearing on computers and accessories. Apple's latest M4 MacBook Pro includes Thunderbolt 5, promising a maximum bandwidth of up to 80 Gbps for bidirectional data transfer. The specification also includes an enhanced bandwidth mode of up to 120 Gbps for external displays. In comparison, existing Ugreen Thunderbolt 4 docks like the Revodok Max 213 are limited to a maximum of 40 Gbps, while USB4 version 2.0 is optimized for up to 80 Gbps. Thunderbolt 5 supports USB4 V2, DisplayPort 2.1, and PCI Express Gen 4 and above.
The new Revodok Max 2131 offers the full range of Thunderbolt 5 features, providing a maximum bidirectional bandwidth of up to 80 Gbps for file transfers and using the 120Gbps Bandwidth Boost for diverse video output capabilities. This allows mirroring or extending the built-in display of a computer.
In Windows, the dock supports up to 60Hz refresh rate at 8K resolution. For Mac computers, macOS does not natively support 8K external displays, so video output is limited to up to 60Hz at 6K resolution. Higher refresh rates can be used in combination with lower resolutions like 2560x1440 at 120Hz or 1080p at 120Hz. Other supported resolutions in single display mode include 60Hz or 30Hz 4K, 1080p, 720p, and 480p (all at 60Hz).
In dual-screen mode, up to two external displays can be connected to a Mac or Windows PC. However, the Mac must be charging with Pro, Max M1, M2, M3, or M4 chips to use all features of dual-screen mode. Standard M1, M2, M3, and M4 chip Macs are limited to a single video output. Some Mac Mini models can connect a second display through the built-in HDMI port, but this dock does not support operation.

The new Revodok Max 2131 docking station features three Thunderbolt 5 ports, each capable of up to 80/120Gbps data transfer or 8K video output. Other I/O ports include a USB-C 3.2 port for up to 10Gbps data transfer, two USB-A 3.2 Gen2 ports for up to 10Gbps data transfer each, and a pair of 5Gbps USB-A 3.0 Gen2 ports for older devices.
The dock connects to a host machine via the USB-C interface that transfers data while charging your laptop with up to 85W of Power Delivery (you also get a 180W GaN power adapter to charge the dock and any connected devices). The accessory measures 5.87 inches wide (14.9cm), 2.08 inches tall (5.28 cm), and 3.79 inches tall (9.62cm), weighing 27.58 ounces or about 782 grams.
UGREEN accepts reservations for the new Revodok Max 2131 Thunderbolt 5 docking station, which is scheduled for release in Q1 of 2025 and has not yet determined its price.
