Oura continues to be the king of smart ring businesses—until Apple takes over the market—while two competitors are trying to launch their own models with their unique approaches.

The French branch 'Circular' has made little progress so far, but its lack of a plastic structure and wireless charging function has been resolved in its latest model.

Oura Keeps Its Crown

Our (Oura) invented the smart ring and is currently the undisputed leader with about 49% market share. Competitors are fighting over minor numbers.

Now at their fourth generation, their app has also received similar improvements as the latest hardware. In fact, their app is very good, overcoming the aversion to the usual subscription business model.

However, other companies are also striving to compete by putting in all they can.

'Circular Is Trying an AFib Detection Reboot'

One of Apple's top brands focuses on early detection of signs like AFib (atrial fibrillation). AFib is a life-threatening heart condition with significant medical importance. It is one of many ways that Apple's smartwatch is evaluated for saving lives. These links are just some examples.

'It is difficult to detect AFib using smart rings, but Circular has solved it,' ATNWrpts.

Circular replaced the old ring's plastic shell with titanium and offered four finishes: black, silver, gold, and rose gold. The company stated that the sensors on the ring have been completely renewed, resulting in more accurate measurement results.

Circular removed the USB charger and used a wireless charging pad. The battery life of Ring 2 is impressive at eight days, one day longer than Oura Ring.

However, the main innovation point of smart rings—first and foremost—is the addition of an FDA-approved atrial fibrillation (AFib) sensor to read heart rate and rhythm.

Circular's cloud funding for the Circular Ring 2 is expected to begin in the latter half of this month and be shipped by mid-March. The price starts at $380.

Superhuman Rare: $1,900 or $2,200

'Ultrahuman is using a rather... different approach with their new Rare model. The Verge reports:'

The Desert Bloom and Sand Dune rings are made from '18k gold' by the London Bridge Market Association. They cost $1900. On the other hand, the Desert Snow ring is made of 'pt950 platinum, which boasts exceptional purity and luster,' with meticulous craftsmanship. It costs $2200.
