Apple has officially agreed to comply with content regulation obligations in France, as per guidelines issued by the country. These guidelines are enforced with deadlines and mean that Apple needs to invest 20% of its TV+ revenue into creating French and European content.

This effectively ensures that Apple continues to produce original French works on Apple TV+. Recently released French works include "La Maison" and "Hello's Many First Generations." Both have gained popularity on TV+ and are preparing for their second seasons.

The allocation of content is becoming more generalized, especially in the European market. Governments view this as a way to preserve local movie and broadcasting industries rather than giving all market power to American streaming platforms.

In France, 20% of total revenue from pure sales last year must be reinvested into French TV production. Most of this expenditure should flow to independent French and European production studios, which also need protection for intellectual property rights.

While direct consumer influence in France over TV+ is relatively low, their original works gained much more popularity in France after signing a contract with Canada+. This contract made Apple's entire catalog of original content available free to the largest cable TV provider in France. For example, Apple's science fiction drama 'Slio' topped the Canada+ streaming charts last week.

Some of Apple's shows are also broadcast on Canal's TV channels.

Currently, Apple has a second season of "Such Fruit" under development and there is a possibility that a new French drama titled 'In the Shadows' will be released by year-end or early next year.
