Now, they are showing exclusive data on the market share of streaming platforms from Q4 2024 - Apple's situation remains stable.
Apple TV+ Market Share in the United States
In the third quarter of 2024, Apple TV+ recorded a market share of 8% in the US. However, in the final quarter of the year, it lost ground to other platforms, causing the global market share to fall to 7%. This is not an important decrease and, compared to previous reports, is relatively consistent. However, it still indicates that Apple is facing a tough competition to outperform large competitors.
JustWatch explains that Apple TV+ is viewed as a "secondary choice" rather than the "primary choice" by most viewers. The streaming market has become very competitive, and most people still prefer major platforms like Netflix and Max.
In 2024, Apple TV+ maintained a relatively consistent market share, behind larger platforms such as Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu, and Max. Despite its stable performance, it failed to close the gap with Paramount+ and did not significantly impact Disney+'s initial momentum in the first quarter.
As usual, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix hold the top two spots. Max is in third place, with a market share of 13% in the US market, while Disney Plus holds the fourth position with a 12% market share.

Apple offered limited-time free access to the platform during the first weekend of 2025 to promote Apple TV+. However, it will take until the next quarter for Apple to confirm whether the campaign was effective.
