Apple Watch SE, a new model in the iPhone series, is expected to be released in the second half of this season, and new health features are also being developed.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple plans to release a new Apple Watch SE in the second half of this year and will also introduce updates for the Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3.

New Apple Watch SE

Gurman does not provide many details about the new Apple Watch SE and only mentions that it will have 'a new design.'

Apple released the Apple Watch SE in 2020. This product was based on the design of the Apple Watch Series 4 from 2018. We might see a design closer to the Apple Watch Series 7 or even a completely new design.

In the past, Mark Gurman reported that Apple considered using a plastic body for the Apple Watch SE, so it could be what he is referring to. Regardless, if you are planning to buy an Apple Watch SE, it would be better to wait for this new model. If Apple actually chooses to release a plastic Apple Watch SE, we expect several interesting colors to be released with it.

Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3

The higher-end Apple Watches will not introduce a new design but will 'maintain themselves roughly.' However, this does not mean that anything can be expected.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will gain support for solar communication and 5G RedCap, which will greatly expand the user's connection options. In addition, there is a high possibility that Apple will release blood pressure monitoring functionality for both the Apple Watch Series 11 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3 this year. While Apple's blood pressure measurements do not provide an exact number, they inform users of important matters.

Blood pressure monitoring works similarly to how Apple's sleep apnea detection sensor operates. It does not provide specific reading values (e.g., resting blood pressure or systolic blood pressure), but it will alert the user if they are in a hypertensive state.

The release of the blood pressure monitoring feature was initially planned for the Apple Watch Series 10, but it has been delayed due to the new and larger design of the watch. However, Apple needs to be ready to release it this year.

Gurman also mentioned that Apple is developing a new artificial intelligence coaching service and a comprehensive new health app, though the timing is not clear. These additional features are expected to align with the release of new AirPods with heart rate monitoring functionality.

Summary

If all these rumors prove true, it seems that Apple will update all its Apple Watch models at once. This would be the first time since 2022 when Apple released the Apple Watch SE 2, the Apple Watch Series 8, and the original Apple Watch Ultra.

We were expecting this in 2024, but instead, we received a new black titanium Apple Watch Ultra 2, and the new Apple Watch SE was strangely not shipped. Nevertheless, hopefully, everything will work well this year.
