Apple has released iOS 18.3 beta 3 to developers today afternoon. This update includes several changes to the Apple Intelligence notification summary feature.

Update 20:30 ET: With these changes, a new public test version is also available.

Following complaints from trustworthy news sources, this occurred two weeks ago when Apple promised "a future software update that will clarify the point at which the summary text provided by Apple Intelligence is displayed."

Changes made to Apple Intelligence notification summaries in iOS 18.3 include:

• When using the notification summary, iOS 18.3 helps make it clearer that this feature, like all Apple Intelligence features, is a beta version.
• The app's notification summary can be deactivated directly from the Lock Screen or Notification Center by swiping. To do this, tap "Options" and then select the "Deactivate Summary" option.
• Notification summaries on the lock screen use slanted text to distinguish them from regular notifications.
• In Apple's Settings app, it now displays a warning message to users that "notification summaries may include errors."

Additionally, notification summaries in the News and Entertainment categories of apps were temporarily completely deactivated. Notification summaries are expected to be reactivated in this category by future software updates as Apple improves the experience.

iOS 18.3 was released today as a developer beta test version. A public beta version is expected to be released within the next week. It is not known when the update will be released to general users.
